How To Calculate Drinks for Your Party
The event experts at Craven + Co. designed The Drink Calculator to help every event, party and wedding host create the perfect shopping list for their bar. This tool takes out the guesswork of stocking any kind of bar, whether you’re having 50 friends over for a backyard barbecue or a paired wine dinner for your vineyard-hopping friends.
When we plan events for clients, we do the exact same process we’ve laid out for you in The Drink Calculator experience. Now, we’re empowering you with a data-driven shopping list delivered straight to you via text or email. Maybe best of all, we have an option for you to have your list sent to a store for delivery or pick-up. This feature was sparked straight from our love of empowering all hosts out there check things off their to-do list with the absolute lowest amount of stress possible.
This guide will help you dial in the perfect quantities + types of liquor, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Use the first page of The Drink Calculator to enter the number of guests you expect to attend, the number of hours you think the party will go, and “how thirsty” your guests are.
To decide how thirsty your guests are, consider the guest list. Are they your best friends from college who drink like fish? Or is it a work function where guests will likely (if they’re wise) be on their best behavior and therefore drinking less?
2. Select the general liquor categories you want to offer your guests.
Do you want to keep the bar options and cost down and only offer beer and wine? Do you want to offer every liquor, including the often overlooked rum drinks that are vintage Tiki Cocktail gems?
3. Dial in the specifics for each alcohol category you’ve chosen. This is where we really allow you to dive into the categories that are easiest to shop for when you know exactly what you’re looking for.
When we created The Drink Calculator, we loved doing the research for these descriptions. We hope you find this feature as fun and informative as we did when we made it. We had to scale back the sub-categories we offered within each liquor because of sheer volume. Check out your results on the "order up!” page. We can text or email it to you, or both, so that you can run to the liquor store or we’ve made it easy for you to order online and have it delivered or packed up and ready for you to pick up!

We designed this to allow you to get to know your party people better so that you waste less and have happier party guests by referencing things they drank and didn’t drink at past parties.
