mocktails
If you want to make some people happy, step up your mocktail game. A bar's spirit free cocktails can frequently be afterthoughts, which leaves out a noble group: our designated drivers + guests who simply choose the clean path. The beauty of it is, you can kraft some thoughtful and delicious drinks with the mixers you already use for your cocktails. Really, all of the same rules apply. An excellent garnish can make the drink, and fresh juices + quality mixers just up the anty.
A few of our favorite recipes spin on the classic cocktails, a la Mad Men + Tiki Bars. They all incorporate standard mixers and, if you read our garnishes 101 post, garnishes that you should always have on hand. Here are three of our favorite mocktail recipes from around the web!
Moscow Mule Mocktail:
One of the best things about creating spirit free drinks from vodka-based cocktails is that Vodka's neutral taste allows the mixers and garnishes to shine. We recommend using a high-quality ginger beer (non-alcoholic, of course!) squeeze a little lime and stir well. Pour it all into a classic, icy copper mug to get the full Moscow Mule experience!
Virgin Cucumber Gimlet
A traditional gimlet has three simple ingredients, Gin, simple syrup, and lime, often garnished with a cucumber wheel. All this recipe calls for is a little muddled cucumber in place of the Gin, and then add in your syrup, lime juice, club soda to top it off, and voila, you've got a refreshing mocktail that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Grapefruit & Rosemary Mocktail
This Grapefruit & Rosemary recipe is modeled after the classic Greyhound but with an elevated twist. The Rosemary simple syrup adds a lemony herbaceous note and the fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice adds just the right amount of tart sweetness. We promise you won't even miss the Vodka!
Cheers!
